KEYSTONE GRANGE #2 PROMOTES LITERACY AT SOUTH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WITH “WORDS FOR THIRDS”

TRAPPE – The Keystone Grange #2 of Collegeville/Trappe is working with South Elementary School this year to promote literacy skills and community involvement. The Grange has introduced a new program called “Words for Thirds,” where a dictionary is donated to every third grade student at South.The Grange also held a poetry writing contest for third-graders. The theme was “Agriculture and Farming in Our Community.” The students wrote the poems in school as part of the language arts curriculum and writing program.The six winning poems were read aloud by the winners at the Grange meeting held Oct. 16. The winners included: Ella North, Nicholas Wolff, Annabelle Booker, Max Krantz, Isabella Greco, and Justin Reyes.All of the poems will be displayed on the walls of the Grange. The third-grade teachers and all of the South staff would like to thank the Grange for its involvement in the school and the generous donations of 125 dictionaries for the stu-dents.
