COLLEGEVILLE -Perkiomen Valley High School’s halls were transformed into Hollywood for its annual Post Prom event on May 16, with this year’s theme being “Movie Magic.” The school was decorated with scenes from different movies, such as Harry Potter and Percy Jackson, and free food, fun activities, and even cash prizes were provided for all the kids that came. Approximately 415 students attended the event, making this year’s Post Prom another huge success.
Every year, Post Prom provides students with a safe and fun environment. It is free to all juniors and seniors, regardless of whether or not they have attended prom.  Post Prom provides a safe alternative for students who want to continue celebrating after the prom has ended.
The students that attended had the opportunity to participate in exciting games, including minute-to-win-it challenges, a team race, and skee ball. There were other activities as well, including free massages and caricatures. At the end of the night, students were able to win prizes such as free PV parking permits, gift cards, and a flat screen TV.
The event almost did not happen this year due to a limited pool of volunteers. But parents stepped up in the end, working tirelessly to create an amazing night for students. Anyone in the community can be involved in making Post Prom happen through means of fundraising, acquiring sponsors, and organizing activities, along with many other jobs. Residents in the community without kids in the district also volunteer because Post Prom benefits the community as a whole by keeping teens off the roads.
If you are interested in joining the committee, please email pvpostprom@gmail.com or visit the Post Prom Celebration webpage located on the high school website.
