PHILLIE PHANATIC INSPIRES READING AT SCHWENKSVILLE ELEMENTARY

SCHWENKSVILLE – Schwenksville Elementary School students were rewarded for their reading efforts with a visit from the Philadelphia Phillies mascot, the Phillie Phanatic, on May 16.

The Phanatic’s visit served a dual purpose – to reward students’ spectacular Participation in the “Phanatic About Reading Program” and to kick off this year’s summer reading program.

Schwenksville’s students were registered into this program by teacher Jessica Smith. Through the program, students in grades K-8 are challenged to read a minimum of 15 minutes a day to improve their literacy skills. This year, Schwenksville’s classes were selected as winners and as a result received a “One-Man Band” assembly on May 16. The Phanatic’s visit encouraged the children to continue to meet their reading goals, as well as have a blast while doing so.

Schwenksville is located at 55 Second St. in Schwenksville.
