Perkiomen Valley Middle School West students raised $7,796 for the school during its sixth annual walk-a-thon fundraiser on Oct. 15. This year’s walk, sponsored by the Home and School Association, rounded out the school year’s first Spirit Week that featured Spirit Wear Tuesday, Wacky Tacky Wednesday, Freaky Hair Friday. Students were asked to generate donations from family and friends while walking laps on the school’s track. ATI Entertainment and KonaIce were on hand to provide music and refreshments. Mrs. Dawn Krown and the Middle School West marching band pumped up the volume during the quarter-mile foot races held at the end of the event. Proceeds from the walkathon will go toward much-needed upgrades in West’s television studio for students. Local businesses donated gifts and services that were won by students who generated the largest contributions.
