LOWER PROVIDENCE TOWNSHIP – Registration has opened for the 7th annual “On Your Marc” benefit 5K run, held to honor the memory of SSG Marc J. Small who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2009. Runners and walkers are invited to take part in this special event to be held Saturday, Aug. 1.
All proceeds from the race benefit “Small Steps in Speech,” a foundation started by Marc’s fiancée Amanda Charney to assist children with communicative disorders. Since its inception 5 ½ years ago, On Your Marc has raised over $164,000 for the foundation.
The race will begin at 8:30 a.m. followed by a 2-mile walk at 8:35 a.m. The measured 5K course will start at the Lower Providence Fire Department in Eagleville, continue through Eagleville Park and surrounding neighborhoods and finish at the fire department. Plenty of free parking is available on the fire house grounds. Dogs are welcome.
There will be water stops on the course and refreshments and entertainment at the finish. Runners will receive instant results at the finish and results also will be posted on www.pretzelcitysports.com in 24-48 hours. Awards will be presented to the top male and female runners overall and to the top two males and females in seven age groups. The team raising the most money will receive a team prize.

Race-day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. An early check-in will be held the evening before the race from 5 to 7 p.m. at the fire department, 3199 Ridge Pike, Eagleville.
Registration fees: Early Bird – $25 (Before July 1, T-shirt included)
July 1 – Aug. 1 – $30 (Including race day, T-shirt while supplies last)
Doggie registration – $15 (Bandana included)
Children 6 and under free; registration not required.
